Some days, life gets too hectic for many of us. We are inundated with a multitude of events and decisions. There are moments when we feel responsible for things even though we shouldn't be, and yet we are expected to make decisions. In such moments, it is time to slow down. The sofa in the painting, gently floating on the water, invites the viewer to settle down on it in thought. Imagine how the arched roof of this painted cave slowly rotates clockwise, surrounded by grasses and trees. The ceiling and walls move under the sofa, dip into the water and reappear on the surface to begin another calm rotation. This monumental but slow movement is in perfect harmony with the title of the painting: Deceleration. It reminds us how important it is to take time to relax and slow down the hectic pace of life.
