Gustav Klimt - “Woman with a Fan”
Art reproduction on canvas in a gold ‘Nicola’ frame
Klimt’s “Woman with a Fan” gives the impression that the figure has paused for just a brief moment. The fan rests against her chest, her gaze is directed out of the picture to the side, and a dense pattern of birds, flowers and luminous patches spreads out around her. Nothing about it is casually tranquil. Klimt dissolves the space almost entirely into ornamentation, without allowing the woman to disappear within it. It is precisely this juxtaposition of body, pattern and colour that makes this late work so fascinating: it is a portrait, a decoration and a dreamscape all at once.
The reproduction measures 48 × 48 cm and is printed on Leonardo (satin) canvas. The satin finish beautifully renders the warm golden tones, subtle areas of colour and decorative details. The motif is mounted on a stretcher frame and continues in a mirrored pattern along the sides, so that the edges of the picture appear seamless.
The classic gold frame “Nicola” echoes the ornamental effect of the motif. Measuring 56 mm wide and 30 mm high, it clearly frames the square format without overwhelming the image. A pin-mounted serrated hanging mechanism completes the design.
