The "Last Supper in Emmaus" by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio is available in two versions. The art print shows the later version, which was created in 1606. Today, the original is exhibited in the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan. Here a religious scene is portrayed, which is handed down in the Gospel of Luke. Two disciples encounter Jesus as they travel to Emmaus. The scene takes place immediately after the arrest of Jesus. At the Last Supper he shows himself to them. The special feature of this depiction of Jesus Caravaggio is that he is shown without a beard. It may go back to early Christ representations that were discovered during the painter's lifetime. Also unusual is the poor clothing of the disciples, which revolted the clergy of the time. The picture is also thrilling because of the dark background and the love of detail in the presentation of clothing and still life on the table.
