Marisa features natural wood with a walnut veneer in a calm, warm brown. The natural grain remains clearly visible, giving each plank a lively yet understated pattern. As the surface is untreated and matt, it absorbs some of the light. This prevents any shiny reflections, creating instead a gentle interplay between lighter and darker areas of wood. The profile has a clean-lined design: a flat, narrow visible surface meets crisp outer edges, whilst the rebate at the rear accommodates the artwork and glass. With a width of 20 mm and a height of 20 mm, the frame has a balanced, almost square presence. This design follows in the tradition of the understated gallery frames of the 20th century, which were frequently used for prints, photography and modern painting. It frames the subject precisely without visually encroaching on its space. We particularly recommend Marisa for delicate studies of nature or understated photographs. Even understated watercolours gain a sense of grounding thanks to the warm walnut veneer. The frame looks its best in our gallery when the artwork features earthy tones, off-white shades or clean lines, allowing the natural wood grain to contribute subtly to the composition.
