Painting Frames "Cecilie" |

| The Cecilie frame combines solid wood with a vividly patinated relief surface. Light blue, mint green and blue-green are layered upon one another in delicate, irregular streaks. Golden accents are concentrated primarily on the raised sections, where they interact with shifting light, whilst the recessed areas appear calmer and cooler. This creates a deliberately aged, painterly effect. The 26 mm wide and 24 mm high profile is clearly structured: on the outside, a softly rounded ornamental band featuring stylised leaves and blossoms rises up. This is followed by a shallow recessed zone with a floral pattern arranged in overlapping scales. A narrow gold-coloured beading runs along the edge facing the picture. This layering guides the eye from the dynamic outer edge, via a calmer intermediate surface, towards the artwork. At the same time, the inner gold edge creates a warm boundary without visually constricting the motif. The shape is reminiscent of polychrome decorative frames in the tradition of the late Baroque and Rococo periods, whose floral reliefs were particularly common on portraits, devotional images and decorative cabinet pieces. We are happy to recommend ‘Cecilie’ for botanical depictions or light-filled landscapes featuring shades of sky, water and green. The frame is shown to its best advantage when the picture incorporates individual cool colours and leaves sufficient calm areas for the ornamentation. |
