Painting Frames "Ana"

The Ana frame combines a 26 mm wide and 24 mm high wooden profile with a finely structured relief surface. A sculptural, leaf-like ornament runs along the outer edge, followed by a more understated band of overlapping scale-like shapes. A narrow silver inner edge frames the motif precisely and gently draws the eye to the image. This layered design is reminiscent of ornamented salon frames from the late 19th century, which frequently accompanied portraits, landscapes and smaller genre paintings. Light beige, cream and ivory form the warm base tone. The patina settles in the recesses, whilst fine speckles and silver areas come to life in raking light. The raised outer edge creates delicate shadows without making the profile appear heavy. We particularly recommend ‘Ana’ for romantic landscapes or finely painted floral still lifes. It looks its best when the picture features muted natural colours or light pastel shades. In a traditional Hamburg building, we like it paired with stucco, chalky wall colours and linen fabrics. In a country house, it goes wonderfully with light wood and ceramics. In a loft, we would deliberately place it on its own against a grey concrete wall, complemented by a simple brass or opal glass light fitting.
