Painting Frames "Almuth" |

| Almuth is a frame that we like to use in a collection where we want to create a sense of calm between different eras. Its white-glazed maple veneer displays a fine, understated grain. The colour lies between white and cream. The matt finish avoids conspicuous highlights and responds to light from the side with subtle shifts in brightness. This allows the wood to remain noticeable without overshadowing the artwork. The profile is just 15 mm wide at the front, but has a depth of 45 mm. This combination of a narrow visible edge and a tall, rectangular body gives the picture a clear outline whilst also creating a sense of distance from the wall. Viewed from the side, Almuth almost resembles a small box. Inside, the light wood finish remains visible, lending warmth to the frame. The design follows in the tradition of the functional gallery and box frames of the 20th century, which were used particularly for prints, photography and modern painting: understated at the front, spatially prominent from the side. We particularly recommend Almuth for minimalist colour-field paintings or light architectural photography. In a salon-style display, it complements darker wooden frames and white passe-partouts beautifully. It looks its best when the artwork itself features open spaces, clean lines or light areas. |
