The painting cleverly reveals a fascinating secret that is subtly hidden in the depicted reality. In the midst of the calm expanse of water, which should apparently reflect the world in a correct manner, a decisive component is missing: The reflection of the landscape area behind the central group of trees in the background remains mysteriously absent. This apparent break with the laws of nature creates a profound incongruity that suddenly shifts the image into a surreal plane or a parallel world. The focus of attention is on the precise depiction of the composition. The fine strokes of the fine art technique lend the painting an ethereal quality, almost hyper-realistic in its accuracy. The oil paints on canvas create a rich texture that brings the scenery to life and suggests a certain translucency in the water. The absence of the reflection of the hinterland enhances the mysterious and unreal nature of this masterfully painted composition.
