This fascinating motif with the majestic waves and the endless beach was captured during my stay on the enchanting island of Sylt on the German North Sea. The presence of the sky frame construction is an artistic invention and only exists in this artwork. This beam construction seems to break through the sky and creates an almost unearthly opening through which the light hits the glittering sea in concentrated splendor.
The depiction of the sea and the beach began on site with sketches, which were later developed into a fine elaboration in the studio. The roaring waves that seem to engulf the ochre-brown sand of the beach are characteristic of the wild force of nature that unfolds here.
The painting is an oil painting on canvas, created in 2019, and measures 40 x 50 cm. It was created in the heart of Berlin-Mitte in my artist's studio.
