Painting Frames "Adelheid" |

| Adelheid is a narrow picture frame made of solid wood, whose antique red shade shifts between dark red and burgundy. The finely grooved, brushed and patinated surface retains darker marks. This gives the colour a lively appearance without making it look cluttered. Measuring 20 mm in width and 18 mm in height, the profile creates a surprisingly pronounced three-dimensional effect. The red central section is slightly curved inwards and is framed by two golden zones. On the outside runs a narrow gold edge; on the inside, a wider, gently rounded antique gold edge leads directly to the image. This gradation draws the eye: the red creates warmth and depth, whilst the gold absorbs incoming light and channels it towards the image. The brushing and patina create not uniform reflections, but small light and dark accents. The shape is reminiscent of the colour-framed moulded frames of the Baroque period. Such structured profiles were particularly favoured for portraits, religious depictions and smaller paintings, as their light edges clearly separated the subject from the surrounding space. We particularly recommend ‘Adelheid’ for portraits with warm skin tones or for still lifes with a dark background. The frame looks its best when shades of red or gold are already present in the picture. |
