Digital Art

Digital art is art that is at least partially created digitally with a computer. Without the use of digital media, the creation of digital artworks would not be possible. The terms "digital art", digital art, or even computer art have only become common since the 1990s.

The techniques of digital visual art are varied: for example, digital painting is a common technique used to create images and paintings, or digitally manipulate them. This involves drawing by hand with a pen on a tablet, or creating drawings with a mouse on a computer. These products can then be manipulated with algorithms and revised according to the artist's wishes. Another technique is the manipulation of photographs. Through digital image editing programs such as Photoshop, photographs can be subsequently alienated through numerous effects and filters. One popular manipulation is digital photomontage, in which elements foreign to the image are seamlessly inserted into a picture. Of course, traditional art styles, such as impressionism, can also be recreated and enhanced through digital media. This adoption of art styles is referred to as digital style art.

Well-known artists in the digital art category include Didier Gaillard, who specializes in minimalist black and white digital photography. The high-contrast images often make simple objects look special and fascinating. Norwegian artist Trygve Skogrand is known for his Christian-inspired photomontages. In doing so, he places figures from well-known Christian paintings in photographs of modern environments. He gives his works meaningful titles that make the viewer think. The artist Ant Smith photographs mainly buildings and other objects and alienates them by mirroring and rotating them so much that they resemble the image of a kaleidoscope. He thus creates symmetrical works of art from simple geometric objects that can be found in everyday urban life.
