Nahl was a member of the German Nahl family of artists. He grew up in Kassel and was initially taught sculpture by his father, the sculptor Johann August Nahl the Elder. He then trained as a painter under Johann Heinrich Tischbein the Elder (1763/64), which he continued in Strasbourg under Tanesch and Christoph von Bemmel (1765-1767) and in Bern under Emanuel Handmann (1767-1770). In 1771/72, Nahl painted his parents' house in Kassel. From 1773, Nahl attended the Academy in Paris. From 1774 he lived in Rome. He returned to Kassel in 1781. From 1788, he created sepia landscapes and paintings. After 1792, he became a professor at the Kassel Academy and was director of the painting class there from 1815.

Rundum positive Erfahrung. Die Ausführung des Auftrags hat eine Weile gedauert, die angekündigte Lieferzeit wurde aber letztlich sogar etwas unterschritten. De levering door Bpost was absoluut desastreus. De gemelde leveringstijd sloeg nergens op. Er werd niet aangebeld en niet geleverd op de voorziene dag. Er werd ook geen duidelijke informatie gegeven over wat er dan met het pakket ging gebeuren. Bpost absoluut te mijden
