Painting Frames "Radka" |

| Radka is a narrow frame moulding made of solid wood which, despite its modest width, offers a noticeable sense of depth. Measuring 20 mm in width and 25 mm in height, the profile is clearly structured across two planes: A slightly rounded, protruding top moulding sits above a straight, recessed base. The deep rebate accommodates the picture, glass and backing board, whilst the stepped design visually focuses the motif and gives it a subtle spatial boundary. The surface is predominantly black, brushed and finished with a subtle patina. Shades ranging from dark red to burgundy emerge along the edges and in the brush marks. When viewed from the side, these red lines come to life; when viewed head-on, the frame remains calm and dark. It is precisely this interplay that we particularly like about Radka: the red does not dominate, but responds to the warm tones in the image. The clean, stepped form follows in the tradition of functional architectural profiles, as were often used in the 20th century for graphic art, photography and modern painting. We particularly recommend Radka for expressive portraits or abstract works featuring shades of black, red and earth tones. It looks at its best when the subject has a clear composition and allows the fine burgundy edges to come into their own. |
