This 6 cm wide wooden frame features a warm ivory finish that diffuses the light softly, without any metallic sheen. The surface has been given an opaque finish and displays a fine, longitudinal brushstroke or smudged texture. Sparsely scattered dark speckles and delicate yellowish shades create a subtle patina effect. It is clearly not a gold-leaf finish, but rather a coloured surface with a deliberately lively character. The profile is crafted from solid wood. Its broad, gently rising cove begins at a narrow inner edge and curves outwards towards the outer edge. This shape gathers light entering from the sides in soft gradations and gently guides the eye towards the picture surface. Such moulded profiles follow the tradition of European picture and mirror frames, in which the recessed moulding served as a visual transition between the wall and the artwork. Here, the design is delightfully minimalist, without ornamentation or additional mouldings. We particularly recommend this frame for light-coloured landscape paintings or finely nuanced botanical illustrations. It looks its best with pictures whose off-white tones, sandy colours or soft shades of green complement its ivory surface. We like to choose it when a picture needs to be framed in a friendly way, but without being strictly confined.
