The Gabi picture frame combines solid wood with a vividly textured surface in turquoise blue, anthracite, black and antique silver. Brushing, fine grooves, speckles and the irregular patina allow ever-changing layers of colour to emerge. Depending on the angle of the light, individual silver areas appear cool and clear, whilst the blue and turquoise tones remain more subdued in the background. The 40 mm wide and 29 mm high profile is slightly raised on the outside and slopes gently towards the picture in a chamfered edge. This design follows in the tradition of bevelled gallery mouldings, which were intended to guide the eye from the wall surface to the image. The narrow silver inner edge provides a precise finish. It catches the light directly on the subject and acts almost like an additional, delicate contour, without constraining the photograph. We particularly recommend Gabi for black-and-white prints, especially when the subject features deep shadows, grainy surfaces or industrial textures. It also beautifully complements large-format pigment prints of coastlines, weathered façades or urban night scenes. It is shown to its best advantage when the photograph has a sense of calm and features clear, uncluttered areas, allowing the frame and the image to complement one another.
