What sort of picture is Brunhilde designed for We would say: one that needs a clear border, but does not want to be overshadowed by its frame. The narrow wooden moulding is 20 mm wide and 25 mm high. Its stepped profile consists of a gently rounded front edge – visible in dark and antique silver – and a recessed section in anthracite to black. This dark step creates a calm outline on the outside. It gives the frame depth and makes the picture appear to float slightly away from the wall. Such minimalist, architecturally structured profiles are in the tradition of modern framing, as used in particular for photographs and graphic works. We particularly like the finely grooved, brushed surface. The metallic silver does not shine uniformly across the surface, but captures the light in many small strokes. Depending on the angle of view, it appears at times brighter, then smoky and almost anthracite in colour. The black section brings this vibrant play of light together beautifully. We are happy to recommend Brunhilde for expressive black-and-white photographs or modern, subtly coloured cityscapes. It looks its best when the image features recurring shades of grey, black, cool blue or individual bright highlights.
