Pablo Picasso

    1881   -   1973
Cubism , Surrealism , Expressionism   •   Wikipedia: Pablo Picasso

Pablo Ruiz Picasso, a Spanish icon of the art world, was born in Malaga on October 25, 1881. However, he carried not only his father's name, but also a host of other names that merged into a symphonic melody: Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso. By the time of his death on April 8, 1973 in Mougins, France, he had created an astonishing number of works of art whose beauty and ingenuity can still be found today in the heartily detailed art prints our company produces.

Picasso was a true prodigy of art, expressing himself in a variety of media, including painting, printmaking and sculpture. His extensive body of work, estimated at about 50,000 works of art, is a testament to his tireless creative energy and experimental nature. His artworks varied enormously in techniques and forms of expression, but it is the Blue and Pink periods and the joint founding of Cubism with Georges Braque that mark the beginning of his outstanding artistic career. These periods represent a fascinating transformation in the art world, which is reflected in our art prints of Picasso's works.

Among Picasso's most famous works of art is the painting "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" (1907), which became the key image of classical modernism. No other 20th century work of art, with the exception of the monumental painting "Guernica" (1937), a striking depiction of the horrors of the Spanish Civil War, has so challenged the art world. However, it is not only his mastery of painting that marks his legacy. Picasso's dove motif, which he designed for the Paris World Peace Congress in 1949, became a worldwide symbol of peace and is another facet of the diverse legacy he left behind. Picasso's works can now be found in prestigious museums around the world, including Paris, Barcelona, and Madrid, and they have left their mark on exhibitions of 20th century art. During his lifetime, the Museu Picasso in Barcelona and the Musée Picasso in Antibes were founded to pay tribute to his artistic genius. Picasso's irresistible influence and masterful artwork are everlasting and live on in the high-quality art prints we produce with the utmost care and respect for his artistic contribution.
